出せき(Attendance)
It's the district's expectation that students make every effort to attend live, in-person classes at the scheduled time. Please make sure that your child logs into Kinjo sensei's Zoom class by 8:30 am. As it is advised from the office, teachers will mark absent if student didn't show up in Zoom on time. If a student is absent, but reports a short- or long-term hardship AND submit class work within 1 day of the assignment date, the student should be marked as present. Teachers can correct attendance for up to three days. If you need Kinjo sensei to correct attendance, please contact him.

宿題 (Homework)
かだいの先出し(sending assignments ahead of time)
It has been a school policy at Waddell for many years that teachers are not required to put together packets of work when students are out for an extended absence. Providing this work to parents implies that the learning can be substituted for the teacher’s instruction in the classroom. Teachers have full administoratove support to delcine this request from parents. Students will be given an opportunity to receive appropriate instruction and be allowed to complete the work when they return to school.

ごほうび (rewards)
It is a huge challenge to keep your child engaged in online class. Unfortunately, teachers cannot physically give students a reward in class this year. To enhance the engagement, our class decided to continue using Class Dojo this year. Please get connected with Class Dojo and set a goal (e.g. 5 points a day / 30 points a week) with your child at home. The reward doesn't have to be expensive, but special reward like favorite dinner or an episode of anime will always encourage your child to work harder.

薬 (medications)
All medications (prescription or over-the counter) needed by a child at school must have a medication authorization form signed by a medical provider and parent/guardian. Items such as any lotions, lip gloss, vaseline, chapstick, etc. are considered over-the-counter medications, and must have a medical order. Basically, nothing can be applied to a child without this order. If you want your child to self-carry a medication (prescribed or over-the-counter), parents must have the medical provider also complete a self-carry authorization form. Both sides of the form must be completed. If this piece is not completed, the over-the counter medication will be kept in the health room. Please see the school nurse for proper paperwork and/or questions.

たん生日 (birthdays)
Special treats (cupcakes, cookies, etc.) brought to honor birthdays and provided for the whole class may only be brought during lunch in order to maintain the integrity of the educational environment.
Any food items brought to school for student consumption and that will be shared with other students must be from a commercially produced source (grocery store, commercial bakery) and include the food labels. Due to food allergies and concerns, nothing homemade is allowed. Please communicate with Kinjo sensei about the possibility of classmates having food allergies. |
しらみ (lice)
Students with head lice will not be allowed in school until they have been treated. Upon return, a school staff member will check the child to be sure no adult lice are found. No alert letter will be sent home unless minimum two students in the class have lice. Please contact the school nurse if there have further questions and/or concerns.
|
けいたい電話とおもちゃ (cell phone and TOys)
Student cell phones/Smart devices must be turned off and left in backpacks during the school day. Or cell phones/Smart devices will be confiscated. Parents/guardians may collect the confiscated device from an administrator. Toys are not allowed at school. This includes fidget spinners and all items that may distract from the learning in the classroom.

せいふく (uniform)
There will be no uniform regulation during the remote learning. However, waking up a bit early to fix hair and dress up will always make you feel good and ready. If your child turns off camera because s/he is still wearing pajama, it's simply sad... Remember, teachers want to see your child's face for check in everyday.
